Easter is the climax of the worship year as the church reflects upon and proclaims the central truth of its faith—that Christ is alive and with us. We accent the significance of this affirmation not only on Easter morning, but also in special observances during the preceding 40 days. Starting on Ash Wednesday, the church enters a season called Lent. During this time, the church embarks on a journey of reflection and penitence.
We each have different ways of observing the days preceding Easter. Some people give up something as a sacrifice. Others take up a new challenge or discipline. Everyone is free to observe Lent in the way that best helps him or her grow as a disciple of Jesus and as a child of God.
Sunday morning services at First Baptist Redlands will accent some of the opportunities and challenges we encounter today as we follow Jesus. Everyone is welcome to participate fully in the worship life of the church during season of Lent and Easter that we might all grow in faith and service.
Please call the church office if you have calla lilies or heavenly bamboo that could be used for bouquets to decorate the Sanctuary for Easter Sunday.
Our volunteers can come to your home on Friday, April 18th to pick up the flowers.
7-7:45 p.m. in the Chapel
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a 40-day season during which we reflect on our lives in light of the cross of Christ. Join us for a special service planned and led by our Youth Ministries with scripture readings, contemplative music, and the imposition of ashes.
